Translations

Triumph of love.
Forever it marches crowned in triumph, victorious in unsullied deeds of valor.1
Sing, my tongue,
the Savior's glory;
tell His triumph far and wide;
tell aloud the famous story
of His body crucified;
how upon the cross a victim,
vanquishing in death, He died.

Abroad the regal banners fly,
now shines the Cross's mystery:
upon it Life did death endure,
and yet by death did life procure.
Who, wounded with a direful spear,
did purposely to wash us clear
from stain of sin, pour out a flood
That which the prophet-king of old
hath in mysterious verse foretold,
is now accomplished, whilst we see
God ruling the nations from a Tree.
of precious water mixed with blood.2

    Notes

    1
    '... and forever it marches crowned in triumph, victorious in unsullied deeds of valor'. In Sap. this is said of virtue, not of love.
