XXVIII.
Post tenebras spero lucem.
EN tibi Cimmeriæ clarissima noctis imago,
Vel si quos habitat nox magis atra specus.
Solibus orba tribus gemuit Nilotica Memphis;
Sed tibi, Nile, diem quarta revexit Eos:
At Mundo æternis nox incubat atra tenebris,
Fax vbi nullius sideris vlla nitet.
Mille adeô rutilent Soles, & Sidera mille,
Etnoua Lunarum millia dena micent;
Gaudet Amor tenebris, tenebras scelus auget, & ipsam
Mutat in vmbrosæ noctis opaca diem.
Ipse ego, cûi radiant tot claro in vertice Soles,
Lucifugâ hoc credor Iudice, lucis inops.
Scilicet Impietas naso suspendit adunco,
Si cûi teste Deo viuere suadet Amor.
Nox illi virtus, animi demissio torpor,
Paupertas sordes, Virginitasque probrum,
Flagra, preces, gemitus, lacrymæ, ieiunia nugæ,
Mors iocus, Infernus fabula, sanna Polus.

Tempus erit, misso cum fulminis igne, videbis
Ipse tuas tenebras, Munde, meumque diem;
Cùm spretum mirata iubar turba assecla Mundi
Clamabit mœstis exululata modis:
Ergóne nos error recti de tramite flexit,
Nec Themis æqua duces prætulit vlla faces?
En qui tot ludos nobis fecêre, iocosque,
Quorum vita fuit fabula, morsque probrum,
Nunc genus ætherium sortiti gaudia captant
Cœlituum densos inter agenda choros.
Nos salebras, tribulosque, & inhospita saxa secuti
Fecimus à paruis ad mala magna gradum:
Illi, defixis animi inter Sidera curis,
Emerunt breuibus gaudia longa malis.
Sic illaudatos quondam laus debita, spretos
Gloria, & invisos spontè reuisit amor:
Nempe velut nostro cum Cynthius exulat orbe
Nulla Venus, oculo iudice, rebus inest;
Ast vbi noctiuagæ velamina detrahit vmbræ,
Tota Venus Phœbo cum redeunte redit:
Sic mihi, qui densâ Mundi gemo nubilus vmbrâ,
Ereptum referet lux inopina decus;

Lux toties imis mihi suspirata medullis,
O mihi lux longis gratior è tenebris!
Lux, de quâ nullos speret nox vlla triumphos,
Eia veni, noctis iam satis, eia veni.

Ce Diuin Cupidon, tout embrasé d'amour,
Descoche mil souspirs apres ce beau seiour;
Mais celuy-là de peur tremblotte, & herissonne,
Pēsant qu'en tout momēt au lugemēt l'on sōne.

Sal dan altijdt den nacht
Het klare licht versmachten?
Sal 's werelts boose macht
Altijdt de deught verachten?
Neen / neen: hier is den dagh /
Die Venus kindt ontsagh.
Des Oordeels klaren dagh
Verlicht dat duyster lagh.
