AMOR ADDIT INERTIBVS ALAS.translationtranslation
Nemo adeò est stupidæ, natura, mentis asellus,
Cui cor & ingenium haud indere possit Amor.
Pegaseas pecori Arcadico ille accomodat alas:
Mopsum habetem in blandum format & arte procum.
translationtranslation

Loue altreth nature.
Thear’s not so dul an asse but Cupid hath the power,
Through loue to whet his wittes, and mend his doltish mynd,
The flow hee maketh quick, hee often altreth kynd,
Hee giueth manie gifts, but mixeth sweet with sowre.

Amore fa gl’asini leoni.
Gl’ignoranti rende egli â i saggi eguali.
Peruiene à porto chi da Amore è mosso.

Liefde verandert nature.
Cupido gheeft veel goets/ maer meest doet hy ’t besuren.

Amour change nature.

Translations

Amor geeft de slomen vleugels.
Amor gives wings to the sluggish.
Nobody is such a dull ass that Love could not give him heart or intelligence. He gives the Arcadian cattle wings like Pegasus had, he transforms the sluggish Mopsus into a charming suitor.
