Goet, auerechts gebruijckt wel dijen kan tot quaet.
Ghelijck ghij siet dees kaers door Voetsels overdaet
Is ouerstelpt en wt. nochtans mocht hij niet leven
Of t'gene dat hem doot, most hem het leven gheven.
T'verstant wel aengeleijt ons door t' gheloove brengt
Int Eeuwich leven. maer t'vernuft die ghene krenckt
Die met sijn ongheloof de waerheijt wil verbloemen,
Dat goet was dat wert quaet en leyt hem int verdoemen. translation

Ce qui estoit pour nourriture tue,
Comme voyez ceste belle chandele.
Ainsi en prend à cestuy-la qui mue
La verité de Dieu, par sa cautele,
Bonne de soy: mais est par l'infidele
Souuent tournee à sa damnation:
Et au croyant donne vie eternele,
Lequel la tient au cœur sans fiction. translation
