Als D'onherbooren Mensch wanhoopt aen Godts genade
So schuijlt hij naeckt van deucht onder de vijgeblade.
Maer neen! de Diepe zee, noch holle bergen hooch
Kan sondt verberghen voor Godts al orsichtich ooch.
Soo ghij v sonde deckt en niet en Wilt belijen
En meent Godt siet niet eens v snoode schelmerijen.
Ach onbedachte! Laes! dan vint ghij eerst de stof
Die U tot alle sondt gheeft voorts te doen verloof. translation

Adam pensoit estre fort bien caché,
Quand il se meit ainsi sous le figuier.
Mais il n'y a cachette où le peché
Aux yeux de Dieu se puisse desnier.
Se vante donc, qui voudra s'oublier,
Que Dieu ne void des hommes la meschance.
Ie croy qu'à rien ne sert tout ce mestier,
Qu'à se donner à tout peché licence. translation
