De Liefde alleen geeft vele goederen.

GEen kruis, geen lyden,
Geen smart, geen stryden,
Geen last, geen hoop op 't ongezien,
Of Liefde draegt ze als Jezus hulp komt biên.
Al wat deze aerde
Houdt hoogh in waerde
Is wellust, eer, verstant of goet;
Maer elk van die is ballast voor 't gemoet.
Wellust is beestigh,
Alle eer, hoe geestigh,
Eene enkle herssenschildery,
In andrer macht, of laffe Slaverny.
Verstant is edel,
Het siert den schedel,
Maer is het niet gevaerlyk wys,
En strykt veel al slechts een' gepuntten prys?
Alle aerdsche schatten
By een te vatten,
Al kon het zyn, voldeed nogh niet,
De gierigheit zocht meer tot meer verdriet.
Al 't heil der weerelt,
Hoe schoon bepeerelt,
Haelt niets by d'enkle min
Der ziel, belust op eeuwigh heilgewin.
