XXXVI.
De Liefde bouwt.

TErwyl ik ben gezint myn Lief een huis te bouwen,
Ontziet hy zelf zich niet de steenen uit te houwen,
En brengtze moedigh op zyn schouders by myn werk;
Dit roert myn handen en geest sterkte aen myne leden;'geest': printing error, 'geeft'
Hy treedt met wakkre schreden,
Zyn min kent maet nogh perk.
'k Zal in 't voltooide huis een' hoogen altaer stichten,
En offeranden doen, die 't heele huis verlichten,
Terwyl een wierookwolk, verluchtigt door dien glans,
De lucht inademe en bewierook' met haer geuren,
Uit bruine en vale kleuren,
Tot in den hoogsten trans.
En, dat geen dootsche vaek myne oogelêen bekruipe,
Nogh zorgeloosheit my ten boezem binne sluipe,
Zal 't waeksaem hart, een klok, my wekken tot myn plicht,
Dan zal ik, vroegh te werk, met handen en met voeten,
Myn levenszon begroeten,
My spieglen in haer licht.
Die yver zal myn Lief behagen en bekoren.
Hy zal myn beden met goetgunstige ooren hooren.
Hy zal my byzyn; waer ik zitte, of sta, of ga,
Myn raetsman wezen, die myn zyde nooit ontwyken,
Nogh my zal doen bezwyken.
Dies sta ik en volsta.
